Why Save Energy?

Every time we turn on our heating, switch on our lights, heat water, cook, or use any gas or electrical appliances in our homes, we may be damaging our other home, EARTH, by adding to the threat of global warming. 25% of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions is generated from energy used in the home.

Carbon dioxide is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. Burning fossil fuels - coal, gas, oil and petrol - either directly or to generate electricity, releases that carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

As the Earth warms, the world's climate will change and sea levels will rise. Rainfall is likely to be affected, with some areas drier and others wetter. For some species, already struggling to cope with a crowded world, survival itself may become a real problem.

By saving energy you will be saving yourself money on your fuel bills, at the same time as helping to conserve our environment.
